Overview

Meet at Napier Road car park by Reading Bridge (the car park is not cheap but is easily accessible on foot from the station and town centre buses). Nearest Post Code RG1 8FJ. We take the Thames Path downstream from Caversham Lock, crossing the Kennet mouth, and continuing towards Sonning. The Thames Nature Park occupies mot of the former Suttons Seeds land and has been created with a number of distinct and interesting habitats. It's rich in avian, mammalian, reptilian and insect life. We then walk back to the Kennet and walk up the canal to town. The walk is flat with no stiles. In wet weather boots are best, but trail shoes will work in better conditions. There's a good pub on the canal near the end of the walk.
