From the car park go south to T junction and turn left on to Bader Ave and head east to roundabout. Turn left on to Thornaby Rd. Opposite airman statue turn left - Kintyre Drive - Cromore Close - Castleton Walk - on reaching Bassleton Lane turn right. Cross the green to join a footpath down to the river and head north to the Surtees (A66) bridge. Cross the bridge to the north bank of the river -follow the Teesdale Way south to the Jubilee Bridge - cross the bridge and walk underneath it to join a footpath heading east to Thornaby. Walk north along Bassleton  Lane then east along Bader Ave until Newton Drive is reached turn left to the car park. Ascent a very strenuous 210 ft. Maps OL26/Exp 306.
