Starting from Thornham Harbour, we walk south on country lanes and footpaths, ascending to a trig point on a ridge with fine views over the North Sea. ( Yes, we do have a few hills in Norfolk ! )
Turning west, we take the old, unmetalled County Road along the ridge, then turn north down a sunken lane to the village of Holme where we pause at the church.
Leaving the church, we cross a nature reserve, where there may be free range cattle, emerging onto the coastal boardwalk.
Turning east, we follow the boardwalk and path along the coast over the dunes bordering Holme Nature Reserve. We pass the site of Seahenge, the 4000 year old Early Bronze Age timber circle which was revealed in the shifting sands in 1998 ( now preserved in Kings Lynn Museum ).
We emerge back in Thornham Harbour, passing the much-photographed and -painted old Coal Barn.
