A scenic cross field hike between three villages along the borders between Milton Keynes, Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire. Starting from the Thornton turning off the A422, we cross over the river Ouse and walk past Thornton Hall and on to Nash, where we will have a short coffee/water break. From there we will walk North to the village of Beachampton passing a large solar farm. After our second break stop at the village, we will then join the Ouse Valley Way back to Thornton College.
Bring a packed lunch or snack. Please note that there are many stiles on this route – we will take our time at these, for those of you like me whose legs are not as supple as they used to be. Not suitable for dogs due to stiles, sheep and cattle in some fields. Many of the field paths will be muddy so make sure you have waterproof footwear.
Meet at the Thornton turning off the A422. Travelling from MK, turn left at the signpost for Thornton and immediately on the right is a lay-by section of the old road with plenty of parking space. Note: The Thornton Road and river bridge is currently closed to road traffic but the lay-by is still open.
