A classic walk in England’s green and pleasant land.
Important Note: Pre-booking required by latest 7pm the day before. If you want the pub contact us several days prior.
Meet at Puttenham Common top car park in time for departure at 10.00am. Leaving the unparalleled views from the car park we cross commons, woodland and an ornamental lake to an al-fresco coffee stop near Culver’s Well. Then through undulating woodland before joining the Greensand Way as it follows the northern branch of the Wey to its junction with the southern branch at the ancient village of Tilford. Lunch at the old Barley Mow pub overlooking the iconic green, where leather meets willow, and picnickers can easily find a spot, or a nearby cafe. Here are medieval bridges and ancient oaks commemorating the rule of some of England’s monarchs.
After lunch we broadly parallel the course of the conjoined Wey, re-entering Puttenham Common before reaching the tranquil and historic (and infamous !) Cutmill Pond. Finally we pass the architecturally noteworthy Rodsall Manor before a short climb back to the cars at Puttenham Top.
