Overview

A lovely stroll through woods, along lanes and river banks.  We walk through part of Tortworth Arboretum, past Leyhill Prison and visit the Tortworth Sweet Chestnut which may well be the oldest specimen in the country.  We follow the Little Avon River and after a short climb up the road we drop down through the woods, through some fields and back to the start.

The drop down through the woods could be muddy but apart from that the walk is relatively mud free.  Bring a drink and snack as we will have a short break on the bridge.

Many thanks to our friends at Kingswood Ramblers for inviting us to join this walk.
