The walk is 4 miles combining urban and rural Wellington. Starting by visiting the award winning Edwardian park, then continuing on roads past Popham Flats alms-houses to a footpath leading to some of the new housing to the northwest of the town. After passing that and crossing the railway the path leads to the West Deane Way and the remains of the Grand Western Canal. On leaving the West Deane Way to circle back to Lower Westford, the only hill on the route is encountered, before dropping down to recross the railway and return via The Basins.
There are no stiles but there might well be some mud in parts.
