Overview

The route of this stile-free leisurely walk has been changed to avoid a herd of young, inquisitive cattle. Consequently, it is longer than previously described. From the car park in Uffington we head north-east to and through a delightful wood called Uffington Gorse or Foxcover Wood. Just after Moor Mill Farm, we’ll follow Long Lane (a grassy bridleway) to the small village of Fernham, where we’ll have a break (bring a drink and snack). After wandering around the church yard, we’ll go around the village before returning the way we came. There are wonderful views of the scarp slope of the Downs from Long Lane. All being well, The Fox and Hounds pub, on High Street in Uffington, will be open for lunch for those who would like to eat or just have a drink together (completely optional). Vale Walk Leader DC 01367 820683 / 07544 979253
