The Central Pound Street car park at Petworth (GU28 0DX, grid reference SU 9764 2157) now charges on Sunday. Cost is £2.50 for 8 hours.

The Sylvia Beaufoy car park (GU28 0ET, grid ref SU9754 2144) on the south side of A272 Tillington Road just west of the junction with the A283 is free.

Lunch stop at Selham where there is the Three Moles pub and St James church.

No public transport on Sunday except for two hourly Stagecoach No 1 Worthing to Midhurst route.

I was proposing to use the Serpent Trail route across Lavington Common but on the 8th February this was quite muddy.  I will try to investigate alternatives to this section but can't guarantee the result. Poles might be helpful if you use them.

This walk may be done in the opposite direction according to circumstances on the day.
