Our Water of Leith Walk starts at Balerno, Edinburgh. This is a very flat walk on a good cycle path from Balerno to Slateford with a loop into Colinton to follow the Robert Louis Stevenson’s connection with the village. There are several interesting items to see relating to RLS.
The route follows the Edinburgh to Balerno old railway track along the side of the river. Passing fringes of Currie and Juniper Green. We will stop to admire the captivating heritage mural in the 140m tunnel.
We will complete our walk at the Slateford visitor’s centre where drinks and snacks are available and catch the No 44 Lothian bus back to the cars.

Torrain: No ascent, good clean track all the way. There is a small number of downward steps in Colinton. Toilets available at Colinton and Slateford.
