Watford gap and villages beyond

A circular walk from Watford village, we take the Jurassic Way to Ashby St Ledgers where the Gunpowder Plot was hatched, then across fields towards Welton.  We then drop down to cross the Grand Union canal before rising up to Norton village.  From Norton we can enjoy views of the countryside whilst walking back along a farm road to the canal and to the New Inn on the A5 for lunch.  We then walk along the towpath before cutting across the fields past stables and over the railway and M1 on an old byway, we skirt Long Buckby then traverse more fields before crossing the loop line railway track and returning to Watford.
