Join me for this autumnal stroll through the Warwickshire countryside. Our walk begins with a 2-mile meander along permissive paths through the developing Heart of England Forest. We will see a variety of woodland habitats, from newly planted plots to mature areas of forest. As we pass through Dorsington Wood we will encounter the statue of Felix Dennis, the ‘Founder of the Forest,’ who was a poet, a publisher, and a tree planter. We will sample some of his poetry. After a morning break at Dorsington Church, we continue through field paths to Welford on Avon where we will pause for lunch. Our return journey of about 3 miles takes us along the banks of the River Avon back to the car park. There is just one stile and there are also a couple of gentle inclines. Toilets are rural.
