Overview

A walk through fields with gentle slopes, the village of Tewin and Brickground Wood.  Passing Queen Hoo Hall, a hunting lodge of Queen Elizabeth I.  Near the station is the Digswell Viaduct, 100 ft high, which frightened Queen Victoria.  A stroll around Digswell Lake (not open to the public).

Route: Welwyn North Station - Tewin - Bramfield Park Wood - Nancybury Gorse - Tewin Wood - Margery Green - Digswell.

Food: Picnic in a wood (bring a damp-proof cushion).

Travel: King's Cross 11.27, Finsbury Park 11.33, Welwyn North 12.00 (Cambridge train).  Buy a CDR to Welwyn North.
