The walk starts on the common and soon enters the grounds of the Fairlawne Estate, passing a lake and then opening up to the vista of the Grade 1 listed house itself, currently owned by a member of the Saudi Arabian royal family. Grazing livestock and horses add to the picturesque scene.
The path follows a wide avenue of mature trees before emerging on to the road into Plaxtol. We follow the road past the church, one of very few Cromwellian churches built after the civil war in 1651 and before the restoration of the monarchy.
At the far end of village the path meanders through orchards and then Scathes Wood before approaching Ightham Mote, a 14th century moated manor house.
From there we follow it into the Fairlawne Estate again where Shipbourne Church, visible from a distance, faces Upper Green Road where the walk ends.
Several stiles.
Not suitable for dogs.
