Due to the very hot conditions on Saturday and the fact that the middle section of the walk is along a chalk ridge that is very exposed we have decided to cancel this walk. It will be rearranged for another date. Apologies for any disappointment.
We are the Cambridge Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
The Cambridge Ramblers Group are planning to walk the West Anglian Way, which follows the railway line from Cambridge to London Liverpool Street. The walk is in six sections from Whittlesford Parkway to Tottenham Hale. The following sections will be completed one per month from June to November.
This walk is the section is from Whittlesford Parkway to Newport stations, a distance of 12 miles. There is the option of ending early at the Audley End station, a 10 mile walk. Bring food and drink for consumption the walk. There is a toilet in Duxford (about 1 mile after the start). Ickleton has a village store for food and hot and cold drinks. Towards the end of the walk, there are pubs in Wendens Ambo and Newport. There is a long section without tree cover so please bring hat, sunscreen and water.
The meeting point is the west side of the train station at Whittlesford Parkway. If travelling by train purchase a return ticket from Cambridge to Newport. Catch the 9.48 from Cambridge arriving at 9.55 at Whittlesford Parkway. Walk Leader Sylvia 07826064894
