Overview

Start time: 10:00 am Estimated finish: 12:00 pm
Difficulty: Leisurely Ascent: 20m / 94ft
Distance: 5.6km / 3.5mi
Led by Beth (07956242703)

Join the CYW for a gentle morning walk, ideal if this is your first time joining us or you'd like to bring the kids along, followed by optional Sunday lunch afterwards at The Five Bells in Weston Turville.

If you're planning on joining us for lunch please could you drop a message to Beth (07956242703) so she can get an idea of numbers for the pub.

Starting out from this lovely village on the outskirts of Aylesbury, we'll set off through open fields towards the Wendover Arm of the Grand Union Canal. Note this bit in particular can be muddy! We briefly follow a peaceful part of the canal where there's usually some good bird-spotting opportunities, before cutting through the woods to do a lovely loop of Weston Turville reservoir, where if we're lucky we'll see some sailing and more bird life.

Finally we cut back across another (sometimes muddy) field before popping out by a farm and make our way back through Weston Turville village past the beautiful church and some grazing horses and free-range chickens.

Children are welcome and Beth will have a 1 year old in tow, but please note there are a couple of stiles and gates en-route so if bringing children they would need to be in a carrier if not walking alongside. All children are the sole responsibility of the adult with them and we ask for a 1:1 parent child ratio - message Beth if you would like to discuss any details around this.

There aren't any facilities enroute but following the walk we have some tables booked at The Five Bells. If you would like to join us for lunch, please note this in the comments as I will need to confirm numbers closer to the time to the pub.

Please dress warmly and bring waterproof clothing, sturdy sensible shoes you don't mind getting muddy, snacks and water.

Dogs are welcome but must be well behaved, kept on a lead at all times and are the sole responsibility of the owner.
