Distance: 6 miles
Ascent: 663 ft to Taxal Edge
Difficulty: Easy
Meeting time & place: 10.30 at Manchester Piccadilly station to catch the 10.47 train to Whaley Bridge, due to arrive at 11.27. The leader will meet the train at Whaley Bridge station.
Start time & place: 11.27 or when the train from Piccadilly has arrived, due 11.27. On the platform at Whaley Bridge station.
Estimated finish time: about 14.30 in time for the return train at 15.12. The next return train is at 17.12.
Note: walkers are advised to check one of the rail websites such as nationalrail or trainline close to the departure time in case of late changes to the running of the train.
Train ticket: off peak return to Whaley Bridge. If you have a TfGM Concessionary Pass train travel is free to Middlewood station so you just need a Middlewood to Whaley Bridge return.
Car Parking - Available at and around Whaley Bridge station.
Walk Route - Whaley Bridge station, Toddbrook Reservoir, Walker Brow, Taxal Edge, Overton Hall Farm, River Goyt, Shallcross Wood, Horwich End, Whaley Bridge station.
Walking boots or shoes and clothes (waterproof jacket in wet weather conditions) are essential.
Please bring lunch and non alcoholic drinks.
