Overview

A 10 mile moderate walk from Wharncliffe Side going down into the Ewden Valley, around Broomhead Reservoir, then up to Bolsterstone for lunch where there will be the chance for a pub stop (the village also has public toilets). In the afternoon we follow the top of the Ewden Valley with views of More Hall Reservoir, before descending to the reservoir, around it and back up to Wharncliffe Side. Some sections are likely to be wet and some muddy, so I recommend bringing a walking pole. About 1600 ft of ascent overall.

Glen Howe Park. Take the M18 towards Sheffield. Take the M1 north, leave at Junction 35A and take the A616 towards Manchester. After about 4.5 miles turn left onto the A6102 towards Oughtibridge. After about 0.5 mile turn left at the traffic light to continue on the A6102 towards Oughtibridge. After about 2.5 miles (in Wharncliffe Side) turn left onto Green Lane (signposted Glen Howe Park). Follow Green Lane for about 300 yards and where it turns sharp left, turn right (signposted Glen Howe Park) onto Storth Lane. Follow the single track Storth Lane for about 200 yards. The car park is on the right. Parking is free. I recommend reversing into a parking space as the car park is narrow and could be full when we get back.
