Meet in NT Ashridge Monument car park and walk down towards Albury Nowers along the Icknield Way. Resting to review proposed development of last working Chalk Quarry at Pitstone, which is due to be developed into a SANG (suitable alternative green space) with a network of footpaths, open water swimming lake, wetland habitat, visitor centre and car parking facilities. Then into the first Pitstone quarry to be repurposed, which is now a successful local wildlife reserve famous for Chalkland orchids and rare Small Blue butterflies. Returning to National Trust land at Pitstone Hill, we will pass Down Farm and climb up to join Duncombe Terrace for a flat return to the car park. One stile
