Overview

The route leaves Whitwell to the east, crossing fields to Hodthorpe and south to Belph and Creswell Craggs. Well surfaced paths and tracks with gentle climb.

Almost all the route is on firm and level surfaces, but I would advise members to bring hiking poles for some possible, short, muddy sections. The main stop will be at Cresswell Crags where there are toilets and a café.

In view of the limited parking spaces at Spring Street and nearby roads, I have arranged to use the car park of the Holmefield Arms, Station Road, as the starting point of my Whitwell walk on 28th February at 10am. The car park is at the rear of the pub, and only about 100 yards from the Spring Street CP. Almost all the route is on firm and level surfaces, but I would advise members to bring hiking poles for some possible, short, muddy sections. The main stop will be at Cresswell Crags where there are toilets and a café.
