Wilmcote & Wootton Wawen Walk, 9.5 miles with the option to walk half if you are happy to catch the train from Wilmote to Wootton Wawen.
The walk is through Warwickshire countryside with one incline, a little bit of woods , some road walking and ending up on the Stratford canal. There are stiles, there are sheep in the fields, we did not cross any fields with cattle in them. At Aston Cantlow there is the opportunity to visit the church where Shakespeare’s parents were married, at Wootton Wawen the church has Saxon connections, as we walk the Stratford Canal we will cross the Edstone Aqueduct.
The line from Wilmcote runs to Wootton Wawen , it is a 6min journey. If anyone wants to reduce the length of the walk by half they could catch the train to Wootton Wawen, we aim to be there approx. lunch time, around 12.30. (It’s the Stratford on Avon Line). If anyone plans to do this can they let us know so we can look out for them. The aim is to have lunch at St Peters church .
There are pubs in Wilmcote, a shop in Wootton Wawen, but it is recommended people bring lunch and drinks.
