An exploration of the ancient tracks, villages and earth works around part of Cranborne Chase. Walking mainly on tracks and country roads.
From Wimborne St Giles we head to Knowlton rings with its derelict church and neolithic henge. Then on to Gussage all Saints and Gussage St Michael via the Sovel Down nature reserve and Ackling Dyke roman road.
Gussage Down is next with its long barrows, tumulus and neolithic settlement earth works.
We then make our way to our start point via Harley Down, Monkton up Wimborne, and Squirrels Corner.
The walk is exposed in places so wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
Bring a packed lunch and plenty of water.
Cream Teas will be available in the village hall or some may choose refreshments in a local pub.
