A linear walk from Worlds End, Burgess Hill up onto the Downs and across to Lewes, returning by train.
Meet up roadside outside Wivelsfield train station. Largely level in the morning, across Ditchling Common through the Blackbrook bluebell Wood, past Plumpton racecourse to the Half Moon, PH for lunch (but we need to pre-order!). A stiff climb up onto the South Downs Way is then rewarded by a long and gentle scenic descent down past Blackcap and the old Lewes racecourse with a last short rise for the views by Lewes castle before dropping down to the train station. Ten or so easy stiles in the morning, and a stile-free free-style afternoon ;)
Please text the leader to book onto this walk.
[postponed from Tuesday 22 April]
- Kindly note the earlier start time of 9:30.
- Please pre-order your pub food (including any dietary requirements) with the leader - see link to the Half Moon pub main menu.
When alighting the train at Wivelsfield, take the steps down from the ticket office to meet up on Leylands Road. If coming by car instead, the nearest parking (free) is some 5 to 10 minutes away.
