On this walk we will pass a number of Historic England Grade II listed buildings. The Platform’ is the original railway booking office at Wombourne station on the line which connected Wolverhampton Low Level Station to Stourbridge Junction, opened in 1925, but closed to passengers in 1932 and to freight in 1965.
We start the walk along the disused line, also a section of the Monarch’s Way, until we reach some stunning wall art on two of the bridges. Here we leave the line and make our way to Mops Farm Bridge where we join the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal. We follow the canal to Awbridge Bridge and Lock, the first of a number of Grade II listed buildings which we pass on the walk. We make our way to the pretty village of Trysull before continuing to Bumblehole Lock and Cottage, both of which are Grade II listed. Close by, we pass Bratch Lock and Tollhouse, which along with the Water Pumping Station are all Grade II listed. It is then a short distance back to ‘The Platform’.
