MEETING POINT GRID REFERENCE: SD 905 403
WALK DESCRIPTION:
Our walk starts from the car park near the Lakeside Café at the Ball Grove nature reserve.
We follow the course of Colne Water to Covey Bridge where we take the Pendle Way to Wycoller, a fascinating village with its ancient bridges that was bought in the 1940s by Lancashire County Council to create a country park. That put an end to the water board’s threat in the 1890s to flood the valley to create a reservoir.
As well as the Pendle Way, our route also take us on the Brontë Way and the Pennine Bridleway.
Throughout the route you should see stunning views of the local countryside.
You will also see aspects of the areas historic past, including the lovely village of Trawden with its weavers cottages.
At the end of the walk there should be opportunity to relax and enjoy refreshments at the Lakeside Café.
