Overview

We start from Bark Lane, Addingham, grid ref 085 498, by the suspension bridge over the river Wharfe. There is ample parking all along Bark Lane. We meander through the back streets of Addingham, by the small lake that few people seem to know about, to the public toilets. Closed for refurbishment on my recce but the work looks well on and will hopefully be open on the day. We then start the long ascent to Black Hill at 350m. This will be our coffee stop and, I promise, the only climb of the day. We then cross Ilkley Moor, taking time to look at the Swastika Stone before descending to Ilkley Tarn, a delightful place for lunch. We now walk down through Ilkley to follow the River Wharfe back to Addingham. There are toilets in the riverside park at a charge of 40p and possibly an ice cream stop if the weather is good.
