FREE volunteer led short social walks in Teignbridge parks, woodlands, and nature reserves. Regular friendly group walks often with a cuppa at some point, are at the heart of Walk This Way.
We have three levels of walks to choose from depending on how you feel and your ability. Grade 1 walks are suitable for most abilities. Please arrive approximately 10 minutes ahead of walk start times especially if you are a new walker to the group. We recommend wearing sturdy comfortable footwear.
A Walker Registration Form will need to be completed before taking part in the walks, either in advance or at your first walk. We suggest walkers carry an ICE card (In Case of Emergency) with information to include your name, your emergency contact name, & their contact number, and any of your medical conditions you wish to share. We provide you with one of these to complete. A register is taken before each walk begins.
Please note that all walkers take part entirely at their own risk and we ask that you seek medical advice before walking if appropriate. Current government guidance with regard to Coronavirus should be followed, and also taking appropriate precautions to protect yourself and others against infection.
Walk Leaders
If you, anyone you know would be interested in becoming part of the Teignbridge Walk This Way Wellbeing Walks family as a Volunteer Walk Leader please contact Chrissie Drew for more details on 01626 215751 or chrissie.drew@teignbridge.gov.uk.
We are especially keen to develop Grade 1 walks in more areas. Informal training is currently offered over 2 mornings x 2hrs online but will soon include a face to face training day 10am – 3.30pm option, or a combination of both online and face to face. You will be expected to shadow an existing walk, and complete a practice walk by leading an existing walk group with an observer to conclude training. Ongoing support is provided for all of our walk leaders as they continue leading wellbeing walks across the Teignbridge district.
