Thank you for signing up to Join the Wellbeing Walks in Croydon!
We will be meeting at Coulsdon South Station (the back entrance in Reddown Road).
The buses 60 and 404 stop nearby Marlpit Lane and the 405 stops at the front of Coulsdon South Station on the Brighton Road.
The walk is on grassy paths and has an uphill section at the start, this section lasts for about 20 minutes. Therefore, is a moderate walk.
The walk is approximately 1.5 hours, starting at 10.30 am on Thursday morning.
Halfway (at the top of Farthing Downs) there are toilets and at the end of the walk, nearby Marlpit Lane, Memorial Park, is the Poppy Cafe.
Farthing Downs is a site of special scientific interest and is part of the South London Downs National Nature Reserve.
It is a rare chalk down habitat and depending on the time of year you might see orchids, greater yellow rattle, scabious and many other chalk downland flowers.
If you are interested in birds; yellow hammers, skylarks, long tailed tits, kestrels, buzzards and red kites are regular bird sightings.
If you are bringing dogs, we ask for them to be on leads during the walk.
If you have not signed up for Ramblers Wellbeing Walks we ask that you sign up prior to the walk: https://www.ramblers.org.uk/wellbeing-walks-sign-up
Look forward to seeing you on the walk!
Please ensure you wear suitable clothing, and footwear and bring some water with you.
