Footpath clearance 

We are committed to maintaining the footpath network in our area, and we have clearance days throughout the year, where our volunteers clear overgrown vegetation and sometimes work with Kirklees Council to repair paths and signs.  

Our social events & activities 

Huddersfield Ramblers are a friendly group and usually have a drink together after every walk, as well as a range of social events throughout the year 

We usually arrange several walking holidays every year, each with a planned set of walks led by our members. The holidays usually include: 

• A long weekend in February at a hotel within 2-3 hours' drive from Huddersfield. In recent years we have visited the Lake District, Wales, Northumberland and the Yorkshire Coast. 

• A week-long coach holiday in the autumn, generally somewhere further afield in the UK.  

• An overseas mountains or seaside holiday in Europe in summer. This has included trips to resorts in the Alps and Dolomites as well as to the Canary Islands and various locations in the Med.  

• A long weekend summer self-book / self-drive holiday where we plan the date, location and walks programme, and participants make their own arrangements for transport and accommodation. We pick small towns or large villages with a range of camping/caravanning, B&B, pubs and hotel options. Destinations are usually within three to four hours' drive of Huddersfield, and have included the Yorkshire Dales, the Scottish Borders, North Wales, Northumberland and Shropshire.  

• An annual Christmas Dinner and Dance in December 

• Monthly First Tuesday of the Month drinks, at a pub in Huddersfield, throughout the winter season (September to April)
