Leader Helen McTurk
The walk starts from the car park at the edge of Straiton. There are community toilets available for which you can give a small donation if wished.
This is an easy Grade C mainly level walk of approximately 10 km. There are one or two short inclines and declines, on paths and tracks with some narrow paths along the river. Some very short road walking is included. Blairquhan is a beautiful estate and there are some interesting features which we can explore on the day. We will walk through the estate towards 'Approach Loch' with a Scandinavian chalet where we will stop for lunch. Then following the river across a bridge, through forest and fields and a short road section, before picking up the river side walk and returning to the car park.
Care should be taken on some areas with exposed roots and slippery paths near the river, also care is needed when walking along the road.
Gaiters advised, poles an advantage.
