Overview

A gradual ascent up the Squat Beck valley on a firm path to the col, then back along the grassy ridge of Low Bank to the summit of Rannerdale Knotts.  On the last short section to the summit there is a rocky scramble but this is optional as the lunch stop will be at the foot of this.  The return will be the same route in reverse.
