Following popular demand, I'm repeating my walk from last December hoping that it will be dry and hence not muddy along the River Cam.
Venturing just beyond the boundaries of Uttlesford into Cambridgeshire, this walk of approx. 7 miles broadly follows the River Cam. We're going to explore three historic villages on the way, featuring many beautiful old buildings: Starting from The Plough PH in Duxford, the walk takes us to Ickleton and back, taking in Hinxton on the way.
Most of the walk is on quiet, paved village roads and country lanes or well made paths. There are a couple of gated stiles on the way, but none to climb over.
As the Uttlesford Ramblers have almost come to expect from my walks, there will be a tea/coffee (and toilet) stop half-way.
Ramblers wishing to join us for lunch at The Plough after the walk should please provide their pre-orders to me at least a couple of days before the walk (deadline will be provided nearer the time). In addition to the normal menu the pub also offers a light lunch menu, both of which can be found on their website -- see link below.
The Plough PH, St. Peter's Street, Duxford CB22 4RP. The pub car park is fairly small and we need to leave sufficient space for other customers, but there is usually ample space to park along the road(s) nearby.
