Ramblers group walks: Covid-secure walks can restart from Wednesday 2 December – our walks are exempt from the ‘rule of six’ in all local restriction tiers. Please check with your local group to find out what walks are taking place. Please note that you should not travel to or from Tier 3: Very High alert areas.

All visitors to our website are very welcome. Whether you are already a member of the group, belong to another part of the Ramblers or have only just come across us - we hope you find the information helpful and interesting.

We provide a wide variety of walks of varying distance and degrees of difficulty so that there is something for everyone. In addition we have a lively programme of optional social activities. Please check our News page regularly for updates, details of special events, etc.

The Dearne Valley covers the area between Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster, and includes Swinton, Wath-upon-Dearne and Mexborough.  Several of our walks are within this area, often taking advantage of the Trans-Pennine Trail and other regenerated paths and trails. Our walks outside the Dearne Valley area are equally popular. Members and non members are welcome on all walks and activities. We arrange occasional coach trips to allow walks further afield.  You can view our upcoming walks and events in the blue and green panels on this page.

Our summer evening strolls sometimes end at a pub for those who wish to take refreshment.

We recommend that you bring a packed lunch on all walks which start during the morning. Dearne Valley Group of the Ramblers currently has around 150 members. Come along to some of our walks then, if you enjoy yourself, why not join?
