From Alkrington Woods Nature Reserve car park we go through part of Alkrington Woods before heading up Ellis Lane and onto part of the Rochdale Way. We then walk over Simister and enter Heaton Park where we will visit the following points of interest:-
The Temple (the highest point in the City of Manchester). Heaton Park Hall and Orangery, Ha-Ha Wall, Somme Memorial, Tram Museum, The Town Hall Colonnade, The Boating Lake and The Papal Monument.
We then exit the park and head back to Simister passing the Haweswater Aqueduct, which transports water from Cumbria to Heaton Park.

Starting from Charlesworth centre near Cross/George and Dragon, we head up to Coombes Rocks and, going either over or under the Edge, we join Cown Edge way passing Robin Hoods Picking Rods. Veering off to climb up Gird Lane and head for Higher Chisworth returning to Charlesworth.
