Travel: Take the 09:43 from Liverpool Street (Seven Sisters 09:57), change at Broxbourne (arrives 10:16, depart 10:19) arrives Rye House at 10:22. You need a return to Bishop’s Stortford and a single from Broxbourne to Rye House (only one stop) as Rye House where we start is one stop up the Hertford East branch from Broxbourne.
The walk follows the quiet River Stort. It runs past watermills, country houses, mills, malting and nature reserves through pretty Hertfordshire countryside. Although we will stop close to a pub at lunch time, due to time constraints please bring a packed lunch. At there are no toilet facilities at Rye House Station, please use those on thetrain.
