Overview

I have just received notification from Gloucester Races that due to the unprecedented amount of rainfall in the last 24 hours, the Point to Point Races on Easter Sunday has been called off due to waterlogging.

An announcement will be made shortly regarding a new date.

Tickets will be rolled forward if they get an alternative date, if no alternative date is arranged, all tickets will be refunded.

I will update this page and Meetup with any new information as it arrives.

For the uninitiated, Point to point horse races are held all around the country to allow trainers to enter young thoroughbred and potentially talented race horses in short 4 - 6 furlong courses with one or two jumps thrown in.  I walked the route on Friday 22nd March (yesterday) and was pleased to see the white race rails being installed so looks like its definately going ahead. If we get a lot of rain between now and Easter Sunday, the Race organisers may either; postpone the race to a future date and our tickets will still be valid for the new date or if they decide to cancel the race, we will all receive refunds.

The walk starts at Hartpury Village Hall car park, we will walk on road for a bit before reaching our first style as we enter Ashleworth where we pass Ashleworth Court, Church and the Tythe Barn. We then walk along the River Severn with Spring Hill to our right before entering the Race Course at Maisemore Park to enjoy our lunch stop. The distance is approximately 7 miles TBC.

Our negotiated special entry fee is just £6.50 each (instead of £16 earlybird or £20 standard ticket) because this event will be our lunch break stop for 2 - 2.5 hours to enjoy eating our packed or purchased lunch and drinks, watch a race or two, place a bet and a mooching around the Country Show shopping area (hats, jackets, jumpers ...you name it...).

If you are interested in this very different Easter Treat, please email me  siobhangregson@gmail.com to let me know how many adult tickets you would like, I will then email you by return with bank details etc.
