Walking in Gloucestershire
The Gloucestershire Walking Group is one of a number of groups within the Gloucestershire Ramblers Area. Our knowledgeable walk leaders find interesting and varied routes through the best of the local countryside and points of interest.
Our group is for people who like to walk at times to fit around their other commitments. We walk most Sundays, mostly between 8 and 10 miles, often finishing in a local pub or cafe. During the summer we have shorter walks on Thursday evenings from a pub finishing with a drink and / or a meal.
Please see our website www.gwg.org.uk for the most update schedule of walks and contact details for the walk leader should you have any questions. You can sign up for email updates on the website, or check out our Facebook and Meetup pages.
We offer a warm and inclusive welcome to new members and visitors from other areas. and look forward to seeing you on a walk soon. We don’t charge for our walks but please join Ramblers to support the work we do defending footpaths everywhere.
Our walking group
Every year we plan one or more trips away, for example in recent years we have been to West Wales, the Peak District, Cornwall, Yorkshire Dales, Lake District, Snowdonia, Spain and Morocco.
We have a sub-Group of 20s and 30s walkers who can also walk with the main group. The group aims to encourage younger people in the area to get to know each other, get fit, stay healthy and have some fun.
The group has a lively social programme which includes meals out, BBQ's, cycle rides, pub quizzes and a Christmas party.
