The Five Weirs Walk is an easy 6-mile footpath which follows the River Don from Sheffield City Centre to Meadowhall on the city’s eastern boundary. This stretch of the river incorporates five weirs, which were built as part of Sheffield’s industrial evolution and give the walk its name. The walk also highlights the city’s effort to reclaim industrial wasteland. From Meadowhall we will return by train to Sheffield Station where there will be an opportunity for refreshment in The Sheffield Tap, the restored Edwardian refreshment rooms of the station.
