This is a coach walk. All seats must be pre-booked. There will be four walks varying in distance from 5 to 12 miles.
All coaches pick-up at County Hall bus stop 9.15am and Maid Marian Way, outside Tesco at 9.30am
This is a circular walk
A WALK - Leader: Rod Secker - 10 miles
Route: Firestone Hill, Blackbrook, Shining Cliff Woods, Amberegate
Terrain: One steep hill, pub stop at the Bear
B WALK - Leader: Randy Barber - 8-8.5 miles
Route: This is a linear route starting in Duffield and following an ancient track known as the Portway along the western rim of the Derwent Valley before dropping down into Belper. There, we cross the river and climb up a cobbled street of mill workers terraces onto the eastern side of the valley, then make our way north to Ambergate.
Terrain: Some fine views. Muddy in places due to recent heavy rain
C WALK - Nick Fox - 6 miles
Route: Ambergate, Shining Cliff Woods,Whatstandwell, Cromford Canal, Ambergate.
Terrain: One up hill path through Shining Cliff Woods to Alderwasley but we will take our time. Some road walking. Very muddy. Cafe in Whatstandwell in the afternoon. The Hurt Arms in Ambergate is closed for flood repairs so there is no pub stop at the end of the walk.
