A varied walk that passes through woodland, follows riverside paths to Bridgnorth, then gently climbs to an impressive viewpoint at High Rock before returning along the River Worfe to the start point.
The walk begins on good woodland paths at the Stanmore Country Park which was once the site of an RAF training camp. We walk past Stanmore Hall and Quatford Castle to reach the River Severn near Quatford. There follows a pleasant two-mile riverside stretch to popular Bridgnorth, which is perched high on a sandstone cliff, with its caves, castle, and heritage steam railway. It’s a fascinating place, full of attractions, which begs to be explored.
On leaving the town we head towards another high cliff - the imposing High Rock - which affords some pretty spectacular views from its peak 100 meters above the River Severn. We climb the Rock steadily along attractive woodland paths.
After taking in the views, we continue to a broad track known as Batch Lane which takes us down to the tranquil setting of the River Worfe near Rindleford. We walk along this quiet river and then through fields to return to the start point.
