Meeting time: 8:30
Start time: 9:15
(Estimated finish time: 15:30)
Strenuous 9.5 miles / 15.3 km
We start this pleasant walk at 09:15 going anti-clockwise from Mount Road, Leek and head toward the small hamlet of Ashenhurst and its "Egg Well". Folklore says it was used by the Romans but there is no evidence to support this. There is apparently a Latin inscription which translates: "The liver, kidneys, heart`s disease these waters remedy, and by their healing powers assuage full many a malady".
The walk climbs gradually up Morridge Side to enable "lovely views", then Onecote before heading back to Leek.
