The former volcano of Largo Law may only be 290m high but it is very prominent having the coast to the south and surrounded by lower land. The walk starts in Upper Largo turning north for the quick but very steep ascent of the Law. From the top with its views over Largo Bay and further afield, the route descends close to Upper Largo then on to Keil's Den, an area of woodland along the banks of the Keil Burn then south into Lower Largo. Reaching the shore, the route now follows the Fife Coastal Path eastwards to Earlsferry and on to Elie, passing Shell Bay and MacDuff's cave on the way. It is likely to be muddy in places.
There is the option of taking the bus back to Anstruther from Lower Largo, after about 8k, or carrying on to Elie.
Meet outside the Murray Library Hostel, Shore Street at 9.25am to catch the No 95 bus from Anstruther Harbour to Lower Largo at 9.38am.
