Strenuous 20 miles / 32.2 km
Let's take advantage of the longest day!!
The Ullswater Way is a 20 mile circuit of the lake. I am planning on walking the full route on Saturday 22nd June.
We will be walking the Way in an anticlockwise direction. Beginning at Pooley Bridge we will walk to Aira Force, Glenriding, Patterdale and Howtown. This direction should mean we do the hardest stretch on fresh legs.
The intention is to be finished by 7PM. Please only come on the walk if you can sustain a pace of 2.5- 3 miles as we will not be able to wait for people given the distance we are covering.
For anyone wanting to have a shorter option (10 miles) then we should be in Glenridding by 1.30. From there you can catch a boat back to Pooley Bridge (and maybe look at Aira Force first). This takes an hour. Alternatively, there is an option to catch the ferry back from Howtown which is 16 miles in. The last boat is 17.25 and takes 25 minutes. If we keep at the planned pace I would hope we will be there for 5. I cannot guarantee that though.
We will have some (3/4) short stops along the way to refuel rather than one longer lunch stop so plan your food accordingly!
