Leisurely 9 miles / 14.5 km
Starting at the Disused Wombourne railway station which had a short life from 1925 - 1932, this walk follows the disused railway line to Compton (part of the South Staffordshire Railway Walk) returning on the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal – A good opportunity to stretch your legs in mid-winter without travelling too far, and to see some Staffordshire countryside at the same time. No pub stop but The Railway Cafe at start/finish.
For car share, Sandwell Road car park, West Bromwich.
Wombourne Station, Bratch Lane (the entrance to the car park is opposite Station Road), Wombourne, South Staffordshire. 10 miles from West Bromwich.
This is a circular walk
This is one of hundreds of Ramblers group walks for all ages and abilities every week - all led by our experienced walk leaders. You’re welcome to join us on any of our walks to see if the Ramblers is for you. Then, once you’ve enjoyed the views, fun, exhilaration and good company, it’s just a case of becoming a member.
Do make sure you're fit enough and have the right footwear and clothing for the walk you want to do, though. You can contact the group or leader if in doubt.
