An easy but interesting walk staring from the Plume of Feathers by the railway crossing in Barlaston. We head along the Trent and Mersey canal turning off at the Wedgewood Halt. We cross some fields into the outskirts of Barlaston and go through the cricket ground. We walk along an ancient track and turn toward Barlaston Downs We follow the stream through the Downs until we reach a road and on toward the canal again. On the canal we pass the site of Meaford power station and head back to the pub.
