Strenuous 11 miles / 17.7 km
Join Ramblers Scotland’s Glasgow Young Walkers and Forth Valley Young Walkers on an expedition to Scotland’s most Easterly Munro, Mount Keen.
Mount Keen is the most easterly of the Munros, taking the form of a dome rising above vast swathes of empty, bleak moorland, with extensive views on a good day. The ascent from Glen Esk via Glen Mark is the shortest route and gives good going underfoot.
The walk in through the Glen is very pretty and the going is fairly easy and we should be afforded some great views!
As it’s a very long drive (almost 3 hours without a break), we need to set off nice and early, we’ll be meeting at Bunhouse Road at 06:50 for a prompt 7am departure.
We’ll need drivers for this one, when signing up, please let me know if you can drive and how many you can take?
Hillwalking experience is useful, but this should be a straight forward Munro walk, please bring full outdoor kit including waterproofs, sturdy boots and plenty layers. Bring lots of food, it’s a long day! Though we will stop somewhere en route home for a meal. Best not to plan anything in the evening as I’m expecting a later than usual return to Glasgow!
Members remembers your Ramblers cards/ app for the register and if this if your 4th Walk and you’re not yet a member, please sign up in advance to confirm your space.
Any questions, let me know on 07794842220.
