Simon's Southborough Walk

Moderate 10 miles / 16.1 km
A lovely walk with fine views along the back lanes, woods and fields of Bidborough Ridge and Penshurst which was historically was the centre of the iron smelting industry and the making of cricket balls. The walk will take-in Bidborough Church dating back to Norman times; the old bomb crater and the George & Dragon PH at Penshurst which is Kent's 2nd oldest pub;
Lunch: Bring a picnic lunch with the hope we can sit outside the George & Dragon pub so long as enough people buy a drink.Otherwise there are seats in the church graveyard opposite;
If there is enough interest there will be opportunity for a meal or drink in the Hand & Sceptre Pub and restaurant at the end of the walk.
Place: St Peter's Church, Southborough Common. Park in car park and surrounding roads. Might be busy if there is a church service
