Moderate 11.5 miles / 18.5 km
This walk starts and ends in a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), in one of Hampshire's largest uninterrupted woodlands, and crosses gently undulating chalk downland, however there is one steep down/up of approx 150 m. When pre-walked the paths were good, however there is ongoing forestry work in the woods which may cause areas of mud. Lunch is at the Lord Nelson in Middle Winterslow and must be pre-ordered by 17.00 hrs on Tuesday Dec 10th via the leader. Please contact in advance for pdf copies of the menu. Picnicking is available for those who wish close to the pub.
North of West Dean where Dean Road joins Scouts Lane, head North for approx. 400m, as wood appears Bentley Woods is signposted turn West (left) into the woods on a gravel track, for approx. 200m , the car park is on the North (right). Please be on time to enable the walk to finish with enough light.

Please pre order pub food by 17.00 hrs on Tuesday 10th December via the leader in advance, pdf of menus available. Walking poles maybe helpful for the steep hill which has exposed chalk. As the light will fade by 16.30 hrs approx it is important the walk starts on time at 10.00 to finish by 16.00 hrs
