Walk description: A few miles north of Ringwood (an occasional venture into Hants for us), this walk is dominated by the Avon Valley Path. We begin at the Royal Oak pub in North Gorley, conveniently for afterwards, climbing briskly up to views of the valley and of the open heathland of Gorley Common, where you may encounter cute ponies and donkeys wandering freely. We will follow woodland tracks and traverse potentially lush fields and meadows at various stages, crossing at the picturesque Ibsley Bridge and then glimpsing the Avon’s scenic upstream meander toward Fordingbridge, following a circular to our start point. Optional refreshments available at the pub on our return.
Mostly level, but be prepared for some wet and muddy stretches
Members and non-members are welcome.
