Julian's Farnborough Village circular to Downe and back
Sunday, 27 June 2021
Start time: 10:30
(Estimated finish time: 15:30)
Leisurely 7.5 miles / 12.1 km
Walk through Farnborough Fields and High Elms Country Park to Downe, then an extra loop to take in Darwin's home Downe House (managed by English Heritage if you want to book and leave us there to explore) before finding refreshments at The Queen's Head or George & Dragon... There's the option of coffee and cake too but probably no time for a Sunday Roast so please bring a picnic or snack lunch.
We'll continue via pretty lanes, fields and woods back to Farnborough Village for about 4pm where there are a couple more pubs if people want further refreshment before heading home. For those who are interested this will be Tilly the Labrador puppy's first proper WKW walk so dogs are welcome if owners keep them under close control.
This walk is limited to 25 places. To request a place please email Julian on email@example.com
Meet at 10:15 for a 10:30 start at the island junction of Church Road and Farnborough High Street, BR6 7DB outside Maxims Chinese Takeaway
Beware of Paid Ticket Parking on the High Street but there is street parking free of charge on other roads around the village.
The nearest mainline stations are Orpington (1.5 miles from the start) or Bromley South (5 miles) and both are served by the frequent 358 bus service which stops right by our rendezvous and finish point in the centre of Farnborough Village
